![]() There are machines made with 15 IPS speed as designed so there is no reason to ruin one of these. The rest is related to the tension control as the problem there can skyrocket on you with dirty pots blowing out parts. My reductions in wow and flutter come from more reasonable mechanical work such as AMSoil in the capstan bearing- take the capstans out to be oiled and the Pinch roller being in good shape and oiled. The DC power supply is set to fold back with current limiting to about 2.6 Amps. The RT-909 is a 1/4 track deck so why make it go to 15 IPS when you just cut the life of everything in half and there is no reason for it. The reason the put larger pulleys on the motors for higher speed is that then the motor would run in it normal spec speed. The reason increasing the speed like that is wrong is that it reduces the motor run longevity in half. Pioneer RT-909 infrared remote control for diy-installationcomplete new development - especially for RT-909 the electronic design of the RT-909 is not. The Motors are 7 watt motors not 20 and the BR20 and Tascam 38 which are larger motors are 12Watt. Often times people take a simplistic approach to making a change in a tape deck without knowing the results that will be coming. I would work on that first before messing with speed. You do not say what the wow and flutter is that you do not like. Let me know what you think and if you have an idea for my problem. If not, a small power supply modification would be easy. The only thing I haven't check is whether the power supply in the tape deck can supply that. That is well within the specifications of the motor which is 24 volts 20 watts, The speed can easily be changed with a resistor and cap I think. The motor was pulling less than 500mA at 20 volts to do this. Has anyone seen this problem and or have a solution for it? Also while I had the motor connected to the dc supply I ran it up to 15ips and it behaved normally. It is not hardware, I can use an external power supply and the wow and flutter are in spec. I can see it on my scope and also hear it with a sine wave. The Pioneer RT-909 3-motor deck, with auto reverse / repeat playback and many more features, takes the open-reel format another important and impressive. It has a slight beat, about 4hz on the dc going to the motor. ![]() I have a new to me rt-909 that is about double the spec for flutter. Good evening, first time poster, long time lurker, lots of good information here.
